ABOUT THE EARLY VISION TRAINER

Looking at the photos you can see what is happening – a baby playing at home with Mum. There has been talking, singing, touching, movement - having fun! It was not an ‘accidental’ or passive approach to sensory stimulation. There were frequent changes of things to see and use from the starter kit. These fun times happen a few times each day for a few weeks. There is no confusion between object and background, between figure & ground, due to the plain, dark, wrap-around nature of the console. It is a small theatre with only one thing to see at a time.

Our ‘model’ baby was still not visually curious at 19 months and had an estimated visual development of less than 3 months. Mum & Dad agreed to use the Early Vision Trainer at home and these pictures were taken 2 months later by which time Baby had also learned, from her physiotherapist, to self-support with straight arms.
When this programme ended Baby could look for, see, find and fetch small objects across the room for Mum; she had begun to explore by using all senses and was visually curious with visual development estimated at 12 months.

The Early Vision Trainer package includes:

the Console which folds to fit in the back of a car and comes in a re-usable box , and

the Starter kit which is inclusive, a box posted separately and containing 20+ groups & individual items, large & small of reflecting and/or visual interest

plus Guidelines, rationale, tables and further information
